[UPDATE: 6-6-05] Well I re-drew the backview, it still doesn't look perfect, but there yah go. It'll work fine for its purpose anyway. ^^ I also have obviously finished CGing it all and now it's all pretty and colorful and stuff. I also have a close-up of him (back and front views) without a shirt since I changed his stripes a bit on him, especially his back. You can see that by clicking the link above under "ADDITIONAL REFERENCES", or [click here].

[UPDATE: 6-7-05] Darkened his stripes, since before they were much too light in comparison to the reds of his skin. Now they look closer to how I imagined. :nod: The shading is harder to see on the darker color but I think it looks better darker. :nod:

Masurao's final design. :nod: I decided to mix [the old] with [the new] for his final outcome. The [full armour outfit] might stick around as strictly a second outfit and nothing more, since I don't know if I wanna draw THAT detailed an outfit on him when I do draw up the manga one of these days. I don't wanna kill my hand. ^^;

Anyway, yes, this is only half finished. Reason being is I did this on two seperate pieces of cardstock. I scanned in the front view first and when I was done CGing the front view I scanned in the back view. :shrug: I just wanted to get everything layed out correctly on the front view first, then move on to the back view. Aside from that, I will possibly re-draw the back view since the one here kinda sorta really sucks. XD But yeah. It's not done yet. But I didn't feel like finishing it tonight since I wanna take a break. I've already spent 6 or more hours on this sucker and it's only half-way done.

I found out some tricks along the way though... and this is still an early attempt at cell-style shading. I thought cell shading would work best for a character sheet since it's clean and not confusing. The only places there are soft fading colors/gradients are where the skin or hair actually fades to that color, it's not actually there to depict shadow. Otherwise I would have done the whole thing that way. ^^

you'v done and awesome job so far! wow this is making me wish i had the vast majority of my characters for my story all workd out like this.. most of them ..no.. pretty much all of them are not finished as far as designing them goes. anywho, i adore your work as always. i know you said you did cell shading here, and the only fading is where the skin actually gets darker or lighter.. but the way the skin fades to dark under the cell shading really makes it pop off the page! it looks absolutely gorgeous! Kudos to you this is incredible work so far and if and when you complete the manga for this i will hopefully be first in line to buy a copy LOL! :D :+fav:
