HUZZAH!

I finally put together something for you guys. I've been promising tutorials for long enough ne? Anyway, I dunno if this will help any and I apologize if it doesn't... I tried though. ^^;

Remember to click "Download" to view full size images now. Stupid dA version 5 makes things confusing :O. Nah, I still like dA, just not as much as I used to. :sniff:

[edit] Since the new deviantART doesn't like to save downloaded fullviews as images, I've uploaded this tutorial to my website's server: [link] [/edit]

Wouldn't inking work as well with a normal ink pen?

D: AUGH! I didn't know we used the exact same brand of cardstock! O: *gasp* lol. I remember recommending my FaberCastel pens and cardstock to you like, 3yrs ago? haha. This is interesting in the least. I already not only know, but use all these techniques and even some I've randomly discovered too. I plan to come back and see the responses to this, the subject matter may get some intriguing responses. =3

not all pens have good even ink-flow, nor are all of them acid-free (meaning they don't bleed). If you want a professional looking outcome I highly recommend using better pens. Microns don't cost too much... only around $1 each last I went shopping for them. Faber Castell pens cost a bit more because they're nicer pens ($2.50).

GellyRoll (gel-pens) are okay too, but they don't generally have a nice ink flow sometimes. it can build up and make a mess depending on the pen and how old it is, etc. Ball-point is a whole different monster by itself...

So no, I wouldn't say just any pen works as well as the other.

I love you for this. I've always wondered about your lines - I had a .01 at one point but my sister used it and never gave it back so I just have Faber Castelles. Your sketch is incredibly clean, mine always tend to be all over the place <3. You have a good way of explaining things, don't worry so much :heart:.

I don't even know where to find these Micron pens where I live. The only real places that sell pens in general are OfficeMax, Office Depot, and (maybe) Michaels. I doubt any of these have these "Micron" pens.

Are there any other "big" stores that sell Microns?

This great. I always thought your lines were great, so I'm excited that you did one of these. You explained everything very well and I'm sure it will help me out. Thank you sooo much. :hug:

Michaels sells microns. Look around the area where they sell the colored pencils and such. I usually find them down that isle.
:iconhorus-goddess:
Michael's should have them. :nod: The store I go to isn't a national store ("Hobby Lobby"). Michaels should have them though. I've been there a few times. There is another art supply store called Guiry's, but I'm not sure if it's a national store. So, Michaels would probably be your best bet.

Office Depot might have some good inking pens (maybe the ZiG Millenium brand I also use as a secondary choice). I buy my cardstock and pencils there, but that's about all.
