Gargoyle Sora- lineart by Horus-Goddess Gargoyle Sora- lineart by Horus-Goddess
Man I'm pissed.

I was drawing this up at Rann & Virak Cimetery and was done coloring his skin (located [here] in my scraps) and wanted to do a safety save and take a break for the night but the upload button screwed up and wouldn't work. So I took a few printscreens of it just to be safe. I refreshed my window hoping it would fix the error... well it did, and the upload button worked, but I lost my drawing. And I'd been at it for about 4 and a half hours. :fork::explosion::evileyes::x

:|

:crying:

Yeah so. I'm really really pissed right now. :shakefist: Stupid digital crap is never truely reliable. :dohtwo:

Can I color it? It looks nice! By the way, there's a good rumor that Gargoyles could be in Kingdom Hearts 3!

[obsessing about your artwork] Wow...awesome linart :D

I looked at the coloring for the skin you tried to finish in your scraps (because, darn it, I like trying out different techniques)...so you shade and stuff before you erase and clean up? Do you use a layer mask? (I think I'm addicted to those things. It's tedious, but saves me a headache later ^^) Or maybe it's something pen/tablet related (that I wouldn't know...just have a mousie ^^; )

But anyway, I'm sorry that you lost it, that's frustrating. Maybe you can try again later ^_^

well with shi-painter it allows you to have unlimited layers (as far as I can tell) so instead of using masking like I usually would, I just used another layer. :3

And I usually shade like that because they don't have a lasso tool like Photoshop does (which really are handy) so I end up shading everything quite messily and then just erasing everything that went outside the desired areas. :)

Oh, and thank you so much for your compliments on my work! I appreciate it very much, and don't worry about commenting too much. I may not answer every one of them, but I do read all the comments I get. So.. yeah, no worries. ^__^

Lasso tool, eh? I haven't been using that except to like cut something from the lineart if I have to...sorry to be a bother, but do you use it for shading as well?

Glad that you like the comments ^_^

I use it to select a desired area, and then you can color in it without having to worry about going outside the area you selected, if that makes sense. Kind of like the magic wand tool too. I do use it for shading sometimes depending on the shading style I choose. I rarely do because I like a more natural look to my art (a painting kind of look).

That's very helpful, thank you :D Duh....why didn't I think of that before? Will save mucho amounts of time. (And I like soft shading too ^^ it's much fun) :hug:

I'm glad you've uploaded more Sora/Garygoyle art! I like the pose; it's somewhat simple, yet serves its purpose. The detail in his clothing looks absolutely wonderful; I'm in awe. The wings are probably some of the best I've seen. However, his arm and ear annoy me for some reason. Sora's ear ends at his jaw; which perhaps is just a Garygoyle thing. :shrug: As for his forearm... wouldn't the muscle bulge on the other side? At least, that's what it looks like when I look at my own arm. Well, maybe not. Can't wait to see the finished product!!

I think the lineart looks slightly unnatural, but the coloring job is a beautiful work, and it's such a SHAME that you lost the save for it because of...something i'll pretend I understood. Heh..... i'm sorry hun, I hope you still color it though.

lol. well the program is done in coding, just like what makes up any website only it's different than HTML because it does different, more complex things for a website like hovering menus or programs like the oekaki. And sometimes it messes up and doesn't work, and that's what happened with the submit button when I was working on that. :shrug: I am finishing it in Open Canvas which has brushes and stuff similar to oekaki, but not nearly all the different tools.

Hope that makes more sense... ^^;

And thankies for your comment. I'm not sure how the lineart looks unnatural but I'll just take your word for it. ^^; I was going for thin lineart, was actually trying to resemble the consistency of the GARGOYLES show, to make it look more like it may have been from the series itself, but my style stays true no matter what I do and you can always tell when I drew it. ^^; Oh well.

Oh well that does make sense now, I am sure that they will fix that, i've actually had problems looking at some of the animations of your work since I last checked out one of your oekakis on dev art and I was really pissy.

It does make more sense lots more.

And actually now that you mention that it's based on Gargoyles I retract my statement about it looking unnatural because I realize how their ankles are jointed so that they rest their entire weight on the pads of the front of their feet unlike us and how their bodies are not what I was thinking when I stated my original comment, Lol I wasn't thinking and it -WAS- rather late...ah.

oh okay. I see. Now I get what you meant by "unnatural" when you'd said it.

And I'm sorry the animations didn't always work. X.x Sometimes they screw up too. It all lies in the javascript. lol.

I likes your work, but the "guy" part of me (predominent in that im male) kinda tries to automatically reject anything to that effect... me ish REALLY tryin to put an end to that... (an actually, twas ment more to poke fun at ppl more extreme than me who automatically write off "guy" art as being uncool an such)... ive found i miss many a good thing if i do that, so s'why i stopped a long while ago... sry bout the mix up... an hope this doesnt further the confusion ^^;

so you're saying that guys usually don't favor artwork of guys? wow that would be a mystery to me... since my boyfriend likes drawing bit buff cool guys and stuff like that... and since a lot of guys like Spiderman and all those MARVEL-esque characters and comic books. :shrug:

But alright. I guess I learn something new everyday. xD

It's cool that you're breaking off the norm then. :) Good luck to yah. :thumbsup: I know it took me a while to really just look at the art for what it was when I'd see men drawing really ... interesting pictures of women (you know, the whole horribly mis-proportionate body thing, huge breasts, huge hips/thighs, really thin waist). But meh. lol. Guys are funny. XD no offense of course. It's just funny to me how most of them tend to really uh... endow their women characters. Girls like me usually don't so much.. but that's because we usually all have a different view of what the perfect man would look like. :shrug: Of course then you have fangirls who generally favor the same type of guy.. they usually have long hair, a thin but muscular body, pretty eyes and face, etc.... :keeps talking but fades away:

oh uh, sorry for the ramble there. X.x totally didn't mean to do that. XD

lol, no no no no... i mean... "most" guys influenced by media (and all that ive come across), tend to think that way about art of other guys... (though im at a loss for the comic book hero types... that just seems to contradict everything now doesnt it, glad i dont think that way no more... an wish i never did... ^^; )... heh... *goes off on ramble of his own, fading away*

Ouch. x__X 4.5 hours and it's all gone.... that sucks. I used to do all of my stuff on MS Paint before I had a scanner, and that happened to me once or twice (I never spent anywhere NEAR that long on any of it, but still annoying).

That is very good lineart, but I just have one bitty suggestion.
I think maybe you should make your watermark a little less obtrusive. I'm saying remove it, or even move it, but maybe make the color a bit lighter so it's harder to see, but still irremovable and definitely there. It's just a bit distracting as it is, it's hard to concentrate on the actual drawing.

I think they might be able to recover it if you ask a mod.... If not, you ought to get open canvas to color it with (it's free and a small file). Anyway, I really like the lineart for this, especially the spikes coming from his knees and his feet. I think the only thing that needs work is the head, as it seems too thin and long for Sora. Good Job!

Yeah I've got Open canvas... I couldn't finish the one with the skin colored because I hadn't finished erasing all the blotchiness, but I have started coloring the lineart. So far I have the skin colored and I hope to get it done some time soon. I would ask a mod but I think it's really out of their hands at this point. :shrug: Oh well. At least I salvaged what I had. ^^;
